Howdy!

Howdy, and welcome to HondoJoe's 60 Favorite-ish Albums!

Who likes lists? Everyone! (Well, almost everyone. I can't really speak for that guy with the mullet in the back row.) (No, not the guy with the fish. That's not a mullet, anyway. It's a mackerel.) I like lists. I like to read lists. I like to write lists. I could probably write you a list of why I like lists, but not right now, because I've got another list in mind.

After years of writing lists to each other, my friend Nardo demanded that I write another list. (Demanded? Well, not exactly. I'd say it was more on the lines of "emphatically requested.") (And who am I to deny an emphatic request?) So, what you have here is a list of my favorite albums.

I initially was going to do a Top 40 list, as an homage to Casey Kasem, but, as usual, I found it difficult to limit my list to a reasonable number. So, I settled on 60. Why 60? Because it's significantly larger than 40. (And yet sufficiently smaller than 200.)

Remember, as with most lists, this list is very subjective. It is a list of my personal favorite-ish albums. That doesn't mean I'm saying these are the BEST albums, just the ones that I personally have a hankering for.

What makes an album a favorite? Well, it's got to be a listening experience unto itself. I need to be able to start with Track 1 and play the album straight through to the final track. A favorite-ish album must have some great songs, some really good songs, and few (if any) totally forgettable songs. So, as I list these albums I will note which songs are Top-Notch, which songs provide Album Depth, and which songs are Weak Links. And, in the instances where songs from the album also appear on the HondoJoe Top 200 Songs list, I will note that with a parenthetical notation of said song's number on that list.

I hope you will enjoy this list as much as I am enjoying creating it. (Maybe, if you enjoy it enough, you can write a list of reasons why you like this list.)

Enjoy!
